Summary of Major Conventions/Events
Regional Leadership Training Institute
(RLTI)
RLTI is a 5 day long convention held in Cedar Lake Camp in Milford, PA.
Each member is placed in a bunk where there are activities that occur that
develop bonds between the members. Each member learns leadership of
specific board positions as well as general leadership techniques. Members
work on team building activities and as a result learn about
themselves and their abilities as a leader and a person.
Kickoff Dance
Kickoff Dance is a dance that jump-starts the
programming year. The dance traditionally has a theme and is held annually
in the Whippany JCC. Both members and any Jewish teens can attend!
Members in Training/Alephs in Training
(MIT/AIT)
This convention
is exclusive to new members so they can learn about why they are in
BBYO and what BBYO means for them. It is a great convention to meet new people
without the performed bonds of the older members. Members are inducted into the
region and get a chance to see what BBYO is all about.
Spirit Weekend
Spirit
weekend is split into GJHRR's two councils (Northern and Central) and it is a
giant chapter competition in song, skit, cheer, banner, clothes etc. This is one of
the conventions that receive the most attendance and the most excitement. This
convention gives chapters the chance of showing off their creativity and other
skills. There is also a dance on
Saturday night where the two councils join together.
Senior Weekend
Senior Weekend is for seniors only, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and is
inter-regional! There is a reason that you need to wait until your a senior to
go to this convention...but you'll just have to wait and see. All that can be
said is that it is worth the wait.
Regional Judaism Institute (RJI)
This is the only convention that is held at a hotel! This generates a lot of
excitement for the sheer fact that you get to go away with your friends to a
hotel for the weekend! The convention concentrates on being a Jewish teenager
in today's society.
Leadership is For Everyone (L.I.F.E.)
At LIFE, seniors give their final thoughts about BBYO. Installations of new
council boards and chapter presidents take place. Many members find this
weekend to be inspirational as well as a great end to an unbelievable four
years! THIS CONVENTION IS NOT ONLY FOR SENIORS!
